Cardboard Box Packaging – When we say the word “box”, the first thing that automatically comes into our minds is the corrugated box that we use for the industrial transit of goods. Where in fact, ever since cardboard box packaging replaced the crates, there are actually many types of boxes that are being produced mainly in the packaging industry that have been used interchangeably, which is of course – wrong. Let’s break down all the types of boxes into three (3) main classifications: folding cartons, rigid boxes, and the most popular, the corrugated box all made from the paper pulp of different thickness.

Folding Cartons

Folding Cartons are the thinnest among the three main cardboard box packaging innovation. This type of box is mostly used in retail stores and groceries. This type of box is the most suitable option when packaging perishable goods. One example of these is cereal boxes.

Rigid Boxes

Rigid boxes, also called set-up boxes which are sturdier and are thicker than the folding carton. This type of box is more durable and it does not fold or collapse very easy. One of the major uses for this type of box is for higher-end products such as electronics, like phones and watches or any other product that is perceived to be very important.

Corrugated Boxes

Corrugated boxes, the most popular and widely used cardboard box packaging solution (also called corrugated board, corrugated fiberboard or combined board) are what we commonly refer to as brown cardboard boxes that manufacturing companies from different industries are using to pack their delivery and store items that are not in use anymore. Corrugated boxes are made up of three layers: A fluted or wavy layer is placed in between two outer flat layers, the fluted layer is responsible for the strength that this paper product has. It is important to know the type of cardboard box packaging to use for a specific type of product. It protects the transported product and at the same time, it should prolong its shelf time.
